The Chocolate Factory Afternoon Tea

Forget Willy Wonka, Norwich was way ahead of the curve when it came to magical chocolate factories! Our newest afternoon tea takes Norwich back to the days when the air around Chapelfield was scented with chocolate, when thousands of people worked on the production floors of the factory next door to The Assembly House, when the city was famous for producing many of the country’s best-loved chocolates. We’ve taken some of those famous flavours and reimagined them as a brand-new afternoon tea! Celebrate two things we love with us: chocolate and Norwich! Served from April 8 to June 30 inclusive.

Classic Chocolate Factory Afternoon Tea

£29.50 per person

  • A selection of finger sandwiches;
  • Cheddar cheese and apple chutney
  • Local ham and mild grain mustard
  • Egg and cress
  • Cucumber, whipped cream cheese and chive
  • A plate of savouries;
  • Assembly House Sausage roll
  • Parmesan and pistachio shortbread
  • Three-cheese toastie of mature Cheddar, Red Leicester and mozzarella with smoked tomato chutney
  • Coronation chicken bridge roll, mango chutney, coconut
  • Herbed garlic cream cheese and crispy onion tartlet
  • Our famous daily home-baked Assembly House scones;
  • Cheese, Colman’s Mustard and chive scone, butter
  • Fruit scone, strawberry jam and clotted cream
  • Fancy cakes and desserts;
  • Strawberry Crème: White chocolate and strawberry mousse on a biscuit base, a chocolate cigar, freeze-dried strawberries and edible gold foil
  • The Purple Cupcake: A chocolate fudge cupcake filled with caramel, topped with white chocolate fudge and a golden whole hazelnut
  • The Orange Crème Gateau Opera: A chocolate orange version of Mark Mitson’s signature cake
  • Caramac Macaron: A Caramac flavoured macaron filled with Carmac buttercream and topped with fudge pieces
  • The Lime Barrel and Coconut Meringue Pie: A golden pastry case filled with lime curd and topped with meringue and coconut
  • Our afternoon teas are all made at The Assembly House. The price includes two drinks, so two pots of tea for one (you can choose two different teas if you’d like!), two soft drinks from the menu or two coffees or hot chocolates. Other drinks, including themed cocktails, shakes, Prosecco and extra drinks on top of the two offered, can be added to your bill.
